About

A working notebook, not expert instruction.

The Mediocre Outdoorsman is a place to document what I am learning at the bench, at the range, and in the field.

I am not writing as a guide, professional ballistician, or lifelong expert. I am writing as someone who is still figuring things out, trying to pay attention, test carefully, and remember what actually happened.

Some notes are about loads that worked. Some are about loads that did not. Some are about rifles, public land, scouting, hunting, and the practical friction of getting outside and learning slowly.

The goal is not to pretend the process is cleaner than it is. The goal is to make the process visible: the mistakes, the small wins, the questions, the second guesses, and the things I would pay closer attention to next time.
